20/20 Vision: Women Artists in Western New York
February 16 to August 16, 2020

In February of 2020, the Castellani Art Museum (CAM) of Niagara University will present 20/20 Vision: Women Artists in Western New York. This exhibition, on view from February 16 to August 16, 2020 will be the first comprehensive regional art exhibition to focus on women artists living in Western New York.

This non-juried exhibition is open to all artists currently residing in the Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie and Niagara counties. Submissions must be informed or inspired by the experience of current women artists in these areas.

This community-driven exhibition evolved from the 2018 Meet Me at the CAM Lecture Series, which focused, in part, on the historical and current under-representation of women’s contributions to the visual arts. Responding to that well-documented history of inequity, this show lets the public experience the artists' work without barriers. Critical function is built into the exhibition, however, with academic, community, and special events throughout the exhibit time frame.

In alignment with the CAM mission and consistent with Niagara University’s core values, 20/20 Vision: Women Artists in Western New York offers broader consideration of the work of the participants, and will be a holistic celebration of the artistic endeavors of Western New York women.
