Mara is the co-owner of Casa de Arte and the president of the Asociación Cutural Buffalo-Cuernavaca, A.C., (ACBC). She was the architect for the ACBC group and its first exhibition in the Central Cultural Universitario, (UAEM) in Cuernavaca, México.

Mara illustrated the book “Don’t Let Anyone Take Your Joy Away: An Inside Look at Negro League Baseball and its Legacy, publication by Negro League Baseball Players Association, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Mara has had annual Day of the Dead Installations at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library, Washington, D.C. (2004-7); and Casa de Arte of Buffalo, N.Y (2011-2015)
She has also taught art at the Inter American Development Bank Employees Association, in Washington, D.C.
