Although I have experimented with many mediums and subject matters in the past I have focused my current work on painting. My recent work explores the landscape and abstractions created within. I have always been fascinated with the moving image, seeing things at a glance or as a blur. The concept of movement, time and travel. As we drive down the road we look out the car window and see only brief images of the passing landscape. The moving image is placed in our memory as colors, shapes and small segments of structure. My current paintings are started in a Plein air situation, trying to capture the essence of the surroundings. As the painting develops, segments of structures and colors are abstracted and woven into a shifting image.
