Kari Achatz

About
Kari Achatz

Cut. To make an opening or an incision with a sharp edged tool. To cut is to remove from something larger. Kari’s cuts are obsessive, intuitive, meditative and repetitive; the ability to let the light in. She considers herself an artist who draws with the blade, and her cuts create an intricate language sharing how she views the intricacies of the world.

Kari Achatz is a practicing artist and visual arts teacher in Buffalo, New York. She graduated from Daemen College in 2007, with a BS in Art Education and a minor in painting. She earned an MS in Art Education from State University of New York College at Buffalo in 2011.

Kari has exhibited at The Burchfield Penney Art Center, CEPA Gallery, Czurles-Nelson Gallery, The Tower Gallery, The Lipsey Architecture Center, and The Albright Knox Education Gallery.

Kari has work in several notable collections including The AKG Art Museum, The Jeffrey Grundlach Collection and the Gerald Mead Collection.
