About Marc Duquette
As a child I drew all the time. As I got older, I became very involved in wrestling and art was set to the side. I was inspired by my brother’s work in illustration, and went back to college to earn a B.A. in Art from Buffalo State in 2002. After graduation, I enrolled in several workshops, including the Schuler School of Fine Arts in Baltimore. I continued to study on my own for several years until I was introduced to the Academy of Realist Art in Toronto. I trained there on a part time basis for 7 years. The Academy’s program is based on the French and Italian Academies of the 19th century. I continually push my work to grow as I learn and gain more experience as an artist and person. My work is a reflection on various aspects of my life. I paint and draw in the style of the Old Masters, while employing contemporary themes. I often use metaphors to illustrate an experience or belief. I use light to accent physical beauty, create a mood or drama, in addition to being a subject itself.
