Sally Treanor

About
Sally Treanor

Sally Treanor has worked since 1975 in transparent watercolor, employing a limited palette based on triads using no opaque white or black pigments. Paintings are open-ended, developed directly from natural materials and artifacts, juxtaposing calligraphic strokes with sweeping washes and soft edges. As a watercolor instructor, Treanor introduces the materials, techniques, and vocabulary of watercolor and art in general through systematic, skill-building exercises that she first demonstrates and then follows with a full-class critique.
