Carol Townsend's invitational two-person exhibition entitled "From the Diaries" closed September 6th at the Liptov Gallery of the Peter Michal Bohun Museum of Art, Liptovsky Mikulas, Slovakia. This exhibition space dates back to the 1450's. Featured were works by Julia Sabova, head of the Departments of Textile and Fashion Design at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, and by Carol who was the chair of the Design Department at Buffalo State at the time of the invitation. Carol presented nearly thirty collages and ceramic works. She was also asked to read several of her poems which were then translated and read in the Slovack language.
Carol was selected by the Chautauqua Writers' Center poet-in-residence, James Armstrong, as the Spotlight reader on July 28th. She read her poem entitled "Where the Poem Hides" at the Chautuaqua Institution's Literary Arts Center. She was also chosen to teach two sections of "Introduction to Drawing" for Chautauqua's Special Studies summer program.
Building on a legacy since 1891, we embrace visual exploration as critical to the voice of our time.
