September 17, 2009 – October 31, 2009 Gary L. Wolfe’s ‘Dimensional Transitions,’ an exhibition exploring the dichotomies reflected in art and life experiences will be on view at the Carnegie Art Center from Thursday, September 17 to October 31, 2009. The opening reception is Thursday, September 17 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Gary L. Wolfe’s work addresses the fundamental vulnerability of the contemporary human condition, often combining his skill as a painter with other media (collage, assemblage, fine woodworking, stained glass and video) to create, multi-dimensional objects that transition between actual and perceived presence of the work’s subject and objects. The featured artist of the Niagara Frontier Watercolor Society’s first meeting of the year is Sally Treanor, aquarelist and watercolor instructor from Buffalo and new member of the Buffalo Society of Artists. Treanor employs traditional watercolor techniques using no opaque white or black pigments. Her paintings are open-ended, developed directly from natural materials and artifacts, juxtaposing calligraphic strokes with sweeping washes and soft edges. She believes that each painting communicates a personal encounter with her environment. Treanor has a passion for teaching, taking great joy in the progress of her students.
