Trees & Bees ~ An exhibition by Mark Lavatelli ~ Opening Reception Friday, April 19 5-9 pm On view April 19 – May 18, 2019 “The action of applying paint to a surface, whatever the intended outcome, is enjoyable and addictive” Illinois native Mark Lavatelli has exhibited widely in Western New York for the past thirty years. Professor of Art at Medaille College, he is known for encaustic painting, often using images of trees. He has participated in numerous artist residencies and writes art criticism.? Mark’s artworks feature encaustic monotype prints and collaged prints, emphasizing the beauty of tree structures, trunks, branches and the realities of environmental threats the trees encounter.
Cast, 2017, wood, plaster, barbed-wire Exhibiting Member Rich Tomasello was commissioned to create a piece for the exhibition Give Us The Vote for ArtsWestchester gallery in White Plains, NY. This show focused on voting rights in America and also marked the 100th anniversary of Women’s Suffrage in New York State. The show at ArtsWestchester runs from October 10th until January 27th. Immigration Survival Kit, 2017, cardboard, acetate, hat, make-up kit Tomasello was also selected to exhibit new work in a group pop up exhibition Into Action in Los Angeles, CA. Into Action is a show focused on activism and justice. Tomasello will be exhibiting his work alongside artists such as Swoon, Shepard Fairey, Hank Willis Thomas, Zoe Buckman, Michael Murphy, and more.
Susan Budash and her Mason Jar Series will be featured in the 14th Annual Boston International Fine Art Show, at the Boston Center For The Arts, on behalf of The Renjeau Gallery, with whom she is represented. The IFAS will run from November 18th until the 21st
