The COMMA Gallery is seeking works for its upcoming show, KNOWN, IMAGINED, EXPERIENCED that evoke a sense of place. Anthropologists define sense of place as: “the experiential and expressive ways places are known, imagined, yearned for, held, remembered, voiced, lived, contested and struggled over.” In art a sense of place speaks to physical rootedness, either of imagined scape or to the rendering of real space, the vanishing point found in perspectives both shared and solitary or a feeling of occupying space. Works that go beyond the literal interpretation of the theme are encouraged.
