Despite Rain, BSA Garden Walk Paint Out Celebrates Another Successful Event

Our annual BSA Buffalo Garden Walk paint out at the Vermont 17th st was scheduled for July 29th and 30th but Saturday was canceled due to rain. The ever popular BSA Garden Walk Paint Out was held at the Vermont Triangle Community Garden at 17th and Vermont Streets. Typically scheduled for Saturday, July 29th Sunday, July 30, Saturday was rained out this year. However, Education Chair Nancy Mariani and 4 BSA helpers guided a constant stream of painters of all ages on Sunday from 9:30 – 4:00. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to bring the Paint Out to Buffalo’s East Side as we did for the last two years, but we hope to bring it back next year. Enjoy these photos of proud painters of all…

BSA’s Sara Baker Michalak opened her exhibition of collages ‘The Real Ethereal World’ on July 15th at the Peg Bothner Gallery. This show is presented by the Tri-County Arts Council in Olean and will be on view through August 26. Sara -“The collages that I make reflect my view of the natural world as it is shaped by place, season and time. The compositions convey my sense of forms’ fluid ephemerality and the layered interconnections among living things.” Peg Bothner Gallery

George Grace Wins Multiple Awards

George Grace won awards in three of the past four exhibitions: two Best of Shows in the Fine Arts League for Blast Furnaces Under a Shrouded Moon (pictured above) and Watching the Sunrise, and Second Place in the Pastel Society of Western New York exhibition at the Kenan Center for Through the Rain-Blurred Windshield. He also published his fourth collection of poetry, a 202-page opus, A Hastening Countdown from Infinity (LitGarden Press), available through Amazon and directly from the author. His third collection, Steeling America: A Poetic Memoir of Lackawanna’s Bethlehem Steel was a semifinalist in the Winning Writers International Poetic Memoir Competition.

Catherine Shuman Miller’s silk collagraph and carborundum monoprint, Round About 2, was juried into the Prince Street Gallery’s 15th Annual Juried Show in New York City. She is one of 36 artist juried into the show. Jurors were Flavia Bacarella, Larry Groff, and Gina Werfel.
