Dennis Stierer’s photograph, Good Hope Picnic Grounds from his project ByPassed America, was chosen for the exhibit Forgotten. The exhibit was juried by Paula Tognarelli at the SE CENTER for Photography, 116 East Broad St. in Greenville, SC. The exhibit will hang in the main gallery from 9/1 – 9/30/2023.

Susan Explains I have good news to share with our membership that started with the BSA website artist listings! I was contacted in April by a young woman inquiring for her dad about a very special commission. Her dad’s dream was to have a landscape painting done as an “heirloom” artwork. It was a very special landscape depicting the village he was born in and the home of his ancestors, Futani, Italy. The young lady informed me that she had been searching for an artist willing to take on commission for a large (30″x48″) painting for quite some time when she was referred to the Buffalo Society of Artist’s website. The first summer BSA Open Studio visit after our required COVID break was held at Sally Treanor’s home studio on Saturday, June 3rd. Sally provided an overview of the build-out of the space from unheated/uncooled attic to a modern, up-to-date, purpose-built work space. Visitors saw slide-in painting storage and shelving for acid-free boxes and teaching materials. A flat file provides a framing station. The area is super-insulated with a Mitsubishi unit providing heating and cooling. Finally, color corrected, full-spectrum lighting was chosen over skylights and the whole space was rewired.
