Kathleen McDonnell’s pastel painting “Summer Garden” was juried into the PastelSociety of America’s 37th Annual Open juried Exhibition for “Pastels Only”. TheExhibition was held at the National Arts Club Grand Gallery, New York, New York,from September 8th through September 27th. Kathleen’s pastel painting “Autumn Journey #4” was accepted into the ConnecticutPastel Society’s 16th Annual National Exhibition, “Renaissance in Pastels”. andreceived the Pastel Society of America Award. The Exhibition was held at theMattatuck Museum in Waterbury, Connecticut from October 2nd through October 25th.

Bear in mind that while this was a bit of a departure from our usual spring shows of late, the Buffalo Society of Artists has held many Thumb Box exhibitions in its one hundred and nineteen years of existence. This particular show, then, might be viewed as a tradition revisited. Congratulations to those members who were accepted to this exhibition. The juror, Mr. Massier, was highly selective, accepting some twenty-five works by twenty of our members, out of slightly over fifty entries. Though this may be the smallest exhibition we’ve ever had, what it lacks in quantity, it compensates for in quality. For those whose works were declined, take heart: we have all been there before. Call for Work: PETropolitan Auction of Art

To benefit the Maddie’s® Pet Rescue Project, Thursday, April 29, 2010, Jacobs Executive Development Center. Maddie’s® Pet Rescue is currently seeking donations in any medium: photography, watercolor, metal, ceramic, even hand-painted furniture. To maintain the individuality of this event, the only requirements include that it is a minimum value of $75, that it is not a mass produced piece, and that it is animal inspired. This does not necessarily mean that it must depict an animal.
