Regional Exhibition Prospectus 2021
PLEASE READ ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY. CALL THE GALLERY IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS.Exhibition Summary: The purpose of this exhibition is to offer artists from the Western New York area the opportunity to exhibit and sell work they consider to be their finest effort. It is also our intention that this exhibition exemplifies the excellence in visual art found in Western New York. There is no theme for this exhibition.
Juror: Lin Xia Jiang currently is a professor of Art and Coordinator of the Painting and Drawing Program in the Art and Design Department at SUNY Buffalo State. He has also served as the Chair of the Fine Arts Department at Buffalo State. Educated both in China and the United States, Jiang has exhibited his work regionally, nationally and internationally including venues in China, Japan and European Countries. His paintings and drawings are in numerous private, cooperative and public collections which includes those of Phillip Morris Company Inc., NY; Rantrack Cooperation, Seattle; Oregon Health Sciences University, Portland, Oregon; Oregon State University, the State University of New York at Potsdam, New York; Burchfield-Penny Art Center, Buffalo, New York; Buffalo State College, and Roswell Cancer Research Institute in Buffalo, NY.
Jury Process: Artworks should be delivered to Artists Group Gallery, One Linwood Avenue, on Saturday, October 2, from 11am to 1pm. Works will be juried in person by Prof. Lin. Artists will be notified by email or phone as to the juror‘s decision which is final on or about October 3 or 4. Works that are not accepted by the juror should be picked up on Tuesday, October 5, from 11am to 5pm. If you are unable to pick up your work at that time or have someone pick up your work for you, please make special arrangements for an alternate pick up time. Please notify us if someone is handling your artwork for you and note that we do require that they have photo I.D.
Guidelines: Each artist may submit up to two (2) works (see Framing and Presentation Guidelines). Entries must be original works and may not have been previously exhibited in Western New York including on the internet. The exhibition may include works in any medium. There is no size limitation other than those dictated by our exhibition space. Any original work completed after January 1, 2020 may be submitted. Giclee reproductions of a work or embellished prints are not eligible for entry. Works of extreme weight must be cleared with Artists Group Gallery before submission. This exhibit is open to all artists 18 years of age or over who reside in or are from the Western New York area.
Framing and Presentation Guidelines: All artworks should be ready for presentation. Works that require framing should look professionally prepared. Proper hanging apparatus for 2 or 3 dimensional wall works is required. No saw tooth hangers or clip-on frames will be accepted. There will be a minimal $15.00 hardware and wiring fee for each work that does not meet this requirement. Works may not be accepted due to poor presentation. We do have pedestals for three-dimensional works that are available on a first come basis.
Insurance: Works will be insured by the Western New York Artists Group/AG Gallery from drop-off day to the designated pick-up day. Works left after closing time on pick-up day are left at the artist’s own risk. All works will be handled in a professional manner. However, payment for lost or damaged works will be determined by our insurance carrier, whose decision is final. The maximum value that we can insure a single work for is $2,000.00 after gallery fees, or $2,000.00 per work if not for sale. Any amount over this is at the artist’s own risk.
Storage fees: Works left after the assigned pick-up day(s) will be subject to a $1.00 per day, per work storage fee including days the gallery is closed unless special arrangements are made in advance.
Entry fee: The non-refundable entry fee for this exhibition is $25.00 for members of the Western New York Artists Group and $40.00 for non-members, per artist (not per work). Please make entry fee checks payable to WNYAG. If you are becoming a member or are renewing your membership when dropping off your work, please make separate checks for the entry fee and membership. There will be a $40.00 fee for checks returned by the bank.
Sales: Works that are for sale will be subject to a 40% handling fee if a work is sold. Artists are usually paid approximately one month after payment in full is received by the gallery from the purchaser.
Entry procedure: Artists wishing to participate should complete the entry form and deliver it, along with their artwork and entry fee, to Artists Group Gallery on Saturday, October 2, from 11am to 1pm. The enclosed entry form should be completed in full. DO NOT attach the entry form or your artist resume to the artwork. Make sure to label your artwork on the reverse with your name, the title of the work, media and year completed.
Drop off and pick up: Due to our desire to keep you and our staff safe, we will be following New York State Dept. of Health guidelines for social distancing and we will require all people entering the gallery to wear recommended face coverings. We will also be limiting the number of people who can come into the gallery at a single time for drop off and pick up. When you arrive at the gallery, call us at 885-2251 from your car to let us know you are here. Most likely you will be able to come right into the gallery. If there are too many people in the gallery, we will log your call and call you back in the order that we receive calls to let you know that you can come into the gallery. We plan to have the drop off and pick up completed during the assigned times. Contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
Membership to the Western New York Artists Group: Membership is not required, nor will it be considered by the juror when making his selections. However, individuals who wish to take advantage of the reduced entry fee cost for members may become a member when they deliver their work. Please write a separate check for membership. Membership for one year is $40.00.
Reception and Awards Ceremony: Due to the current health crisis, there will not be an opening reception for this exhibition. As the situation changes from day to day, viewing hours my change. We regret any inconvenience.
Awards:
First Place Award – Edward G. Bisone Award (Stony Dental Care Award) – $200.00, Second Place Award (Art Dialogue Gallery Award) – $150.00, Third Place Award – $100.00, and there will be two Honorable Mention Awards – $50.00 each.

Saturday, October 2 Deliver entries to the WNYAG Gallery from 11am to 1pm.
Tuesday, October 5 Pick-up work(s) that were not accepted from 11am to 5pm.
Friday, October 8 Exhibit will open to the public
Friday, November 12 Exhibition closes at 5pm.
Saturday, November 13 Pick-up works from 11am to 1pm.
