The Buffalo Society of Artists Gallery at Artpark will be open Tuesday-Friday, 1-4pm, May 31 through Labor Day. Forty-five exhibiting artists from the Buffalo Society of Artists have over 100 beautiful works of art in the gallery. The Gallery will also be open for selected weekend, mainstage and amphitheater events. On Sunday, June 12 from 12-2, there will be a reception for the artists and to announce the winner of the Edges II sculpture competition. The sculptures will be in the park all summer for viewing.

Jeanette Blair Memorial at Burchfield Penney
The late Buffalo artist Jeanette Blair, whose landscapes and abstractions seemed to vibrate with the thrum of nature, will be remembered in a memorial service planned for 2 p.m. March 13 at the Burchfield Penney Art Center. Across a prolific career that extended from the 1940s into the 1990s and beyond, Blair’s paintings have been featured in exhibitions in the Albright Art Gallery (now the Albright-Knox), as well as national shows in Cooperstown, Youngstown, Ohio and elsewhere. To benefit the Maddie’s® Pet Rescue Project, Thursday, April 29, 2010, Jacobs Executive Development Center. Maddie’s® Pet Rescue is currently seeking donations in any medium: photography, watercolor, metal, ceramic, even hand-painted furniture. To maintain the individuality of this event, the only requirements include that it is a minimum value of $75, that it is not a mass produced piece, and that it is animal inspired. This does not necessarily mean that it must depict an animal. BSA Member Sally Treanor will be the featured artist-demonstrator at the Niagara Frontier Watercolor Society’s January 21st. Meeting, at the Amherst Community Church, 77 Washington Highway, Snyder, NY. The meeting and demo begin at 7 pm and last til 9 pm. Visitors are invited to hear about watercolor classes and upcoming events, watch the demo, and enjoy refreshments with a group of enthusiastic fellow artists and art lovers.
