Benefit Exhibition for the Western New York Land Conservancy
“The Art of Native Plants” Meibohm Fine Arts is preparing to host a juried exhibition to benefit the Western New York Land Conservancy. The exhibition will be held June 10 – July 29, 2017 at the East Aurora gallery. In addition to supporting the arts community in the region, Meibohm Fine Arts has a long commitment to the Land Conservancy, which permanently protects Western New York’s most cherished farmland, forests, wetlands and natural places. The exhibition “The Art of Native Plants” will focus on the importance of native plants in the ecosystem of our area. Artwork considered for this exhibition should depict native plants, their environs, or the wildlife they support throughout the seasons. A Short Film Collaboration: Joe Porreca & Jon Hand
Jon R. Hand, the videographer of the BSA Video Portrait Series, has created a 9 minute film, “Diamonds in the Rust,” consisting of still photographs and sounds recorded in the Valley and the First Ward, Buffalo, NY. Massier Proposal Presentation Materials
On Thursday, January 20, 2011, John Massier, curator for Hallwalls, gave a presentation for the Buffalo Society of Artists at the Burchfield Penney Art Center on how to prepare an artist’s statement and write an art proposal. This presentation was developed to assist BSA members in submitting materials for the upcoming 115th Annual Catalogue Exhibition that will be held at the UB Anderson Gallery. While we were unable to capture the entire presentation on videotape due to technical difficulties, we have uploaded on YouTube a video provided by John of his PowerPoint presentation. BSA at the County Executives Office
Six Buffalo Society of Artists had work selected by Erie County Executive Chris Collins for exhibition. Adele Becker, Nancy Cerny, Joan Fitzgerald, Robert Schulman, Paula Sciuk, and Jeffrey Swaluk A private reception for artists and guests was held on March 9th at the County Executives office. George Grace, BSA President and Celeste Lawson, Executive Director, Arts Council were in attendance.
