CALL FOR ART + Exhibitors –
The Arts Council for Wyoming County is seeking art submissions for its inaugural Festival Art Exhibition for this year’s 10th annual Fiber Flurry Arts Festival through Midnight on Saturday, March 23.
“Different Fibers” will open to the public on April 12 in the first floor gallery at the Arts Council for Wyoming County and will be on view through April 27. This exhibition will be judged, with first, second, and third-place winners in each category to be announced at the Fiber Flurry Festival closing reception on April 27, 2024.
Submission Categories:
001 Handmade Artisanal: rooted in use and purpose for example, wearables, useful goods
002 For Arts Sake: Fine Art execution of Fiber.

This call is open to all artists working in WNY. Fiber Artists of all types – handmade and conceptual, technique focused and abstract, “useful” and fine art artists alike may submit work through the open call at the Festival page at www.artswyco.org. Work using traditional techniques to create nontraditional, unexpected, or modern results, work that surprises, or work that uses traditional materials to generate nontraditional results will be given priority when jurying.

Besides fiber, work in non-fiber media that connects to concepts or subjects that speak to the joy of working with ones hands, connection to the land, climate change or conservation or simply “sheep/fiber/wool-adjacent” is invited:

5. Graphics (charcoal, pencil, pen & ink, block printing, etc.)

Artists may apply in up to 2 pieces of work in any category, not to exceed 6 total. Each work submitted must include a JPEG or high-res image labeled Name_Title_FF24.

This show is curated and juried by Buffalo Society of Artists Exhibiting Member Tami Fuller. Fuller is an award winning fiber artist, gallerist, curator at The COMMA, an exhibiting member of the Buffalo Society of Artists, a Roycroft Emerging Artist in Fiber, a 2022 NYSCA CR-NY designee and a member of the Buffalo Weaver’s Guild and the Weaver’s Guild of Rochester. In addition to working as a fiber art educator as Blubird Studio, she is the daughter of a shepherdess raised on a working sheep farm with a knowledge of both fine art execution and technical application of fiber.
Deadline to submit work ends Saturday, March 23. There is no cost to participate, and work does not need to be for sale. Work that is held for sale is 80/20 with just 20% to ACWC to support the rural and regional arts.
The festival also offers a Skein Competition for spinners and demonstration and workshop learning opportunities. Fiber Artists who wish to reserve a booth as an exhibitor/vendor for the festival may reserve through March 23. All entries must be the work of the exhibitor.
