The first summer BSA Open Studio visit after our required COVID break was held at Sally Treanor’s home studio on Saturday, June 3rd.
Sally provided an overview of the build-out of the space from unheated/uncooled attic to a modern, up-to-date, purpose-built work space. Visitors saw slide-in painting storage and shelving for acid-free boxes and teaching materials. A flat file provides a framing station. The area is super-insulated with a Mitsubishi unit providing heating and cooling. Finally, color corrected, full-spectrum lighting was chosen over skylights and the whole space was rewired.
Sally gave two demonstrations illustrating some of the special joys of watercolor. The first was a mini video (4.5 minutes) demo of surf and rocks. The second demo was a paint-along that Sally calls “The Lonesome Tree.”
