With the end of summer and another successful completion of the Open Members’ Show at the Carnegie Art Center drawing near, we look forward to our juried Catalog Exhibition, Frank Lloyd Wright Fontana Boathouse Art Show and Auction, City of Night and jurying of prospective new members in the fall. The current uploading of images for entry into the 2013 Catalogue Exhibition at the Kenan Center has been vigorous and promises to give the exhibition’s Juror, George Afedzi Hughes, Associate Professor of Visual Studies at UB, a great deal of extraordinary work to consider. I would ask our membership to likewise consider becoming Patrons for our exhibition themselves and to ask others to do so if they might be so inclined. The importance of funding…

The year moves forward in its usual quick pace and, true to form, the BSA moves right along with it! BSA began 2018 with an exhibition which included new educational events. The Board, the Transition team, Education and Exhibitions Committees are developing several plans for this year so that we can gather with our friends and share our visions and ideas. Events and their dates, times, and venues will be listed on the website, in the newsletter and through e-flashes. Winter Exhibition The Winter Exhibitionin January proved to be another example of the wonderful work of BSA membership. We thank Tim Brooks for organizing this successful exhibition. If you haven’t stepped forward to participate in any one of our vibrant committees, you’re missing something special. It’s been two years since you, our members, told the then Board what you want our Society to do and become when you answered the strategic plan questionnaire. You said we needed better publicity, a stronger connection to the community and other arts groups, and improved educational and professional developments through programs, workshops, studio visits, and demonstrations. Thanks to the hard work of the previous and current Board members and officers, and a surprising number of non-board, non-officer volunteers, we are achieving many of these goals, some at breakneck speed.
