Jane Foley Ferraro: Poetics of Place at Meibohm Fine Arts

Jane Foley Ferraro’s most recent collection of atmospheric paintings will be on view at Meibohm Fine Arts opening with an artist’s reception Friday, April 28.  “Poetics of Place” expands on the artists mastery of oil, cold wax, and acrylic in capturing personal moments of serenity in nature. Ferraro, a self-described “intuitive expressionist” employs a dynamic horizon line throughout the exhibit which anchors the image yet leaves the works open to personal interpretation. The artist’s statement describes her process and inspiration:
“My paintings are inspired by nature but emerge from memories and imagination, rather than specific references, in hopes of creating atmospheric, poetic images open to interpretation.  Winslow Homer’s process was described as 'the flick of a brush that conjures a memory, builds a narrative yet leaves the final chapter unwritten...seeking to ground the viewer in a landscape of the mind.' It is this 'landscape of the mind' that I hope to capture in this current collection of work.”
