About Carol Koziol Clark
Retirement as an educator has allowed the opportunity to pursue and enjoy my journey with watercolors. Self teaching, experimentation and regional workshops with local and nationally known artists, Margaret Martin, Linda Lucas, Pat Berger, Sharon Himes and Barbara Nechis have influenced my painting process. I approach each watercolor painting as a puzzle where I use negative painting, intricate detailing and interconnecting pieces to create a dynamic composition. Each work begins with an environmental concept but the painting takes me in a direction it dictates, making the process ever more spontaneous and exhilarating for me. Transparent overlays and fluid interplay between water and color create unexpectedly wonderful value changes that make the medium both challenging and exciting. My personal fondness for bold color, shape abstraction, and the use of intricate detail and pattern are the stimulating driving forces for my work. I am an exhibiting member of the Buffalo Society of Artists and Niagara Frontier Watercolor Society.
