About
Christopher Behrend

Photography has fascinated me since childhood. One of the best things my parents did for me was drive my brother and I to the George Eastman House and Museum in Rochester, NY to see how it all began and what made a film camera work. I was just 8 years old and it had a profound and lasting effect on me for decades to come. Even now, I continue to go back and experience the latest galleries and exhibitions there twice a year. For me, the next step was an advanced photography class taught by Kevin Schott at Orchard Park High School that opened my eyes to the power of this incredible medium.

There is a connection between an artist and his/her surroundings that can't always be explained. I know without a doubt that my view of architecture, landscapes and aerial photography would not be what it is had I not grown up in one of the most unique cities in the U.S., Buffalo, NY. I approach photography in search of a deeper story. When I stumble across something that truly inspires or amazes me, the artist in me immediately steps forward to capture what I'm seeing in my own way. And over time, that connection became enriched with inspiration and altered my view of the world. Digital photography enables all of this to happen right then and there. With enough inspiration and dedication, this blossomed into something profoundly passionate. I try to consistently embrace my work from an artistic standpoint to better myself and my photography, with every shot I take.

I'm motivated to accumulate the most unique collection of photography possible to bring art and creativity to others. There's never enough art in the world and I believe it's one of the most important aspects of humanity as a whole. Expression of imagination and how we see our world is crucial to our very existence. There are so many aspects of Earth that are at risk, mostly due to our progress as a species. This can be corrected and I'm a strong believer that art itself can unite everyone to create a vision for a better tomorrow.

"There is a poem in every phase of nature to the sympathetic soul, and it is that which every successful landscape should echo" - Lars Gustaf Sellstedt
