About Jennifer Dowdell
Mixed Media Abstract Artist
Jennifer grew up in Amherst, New York and has spent her professional career in advertising and graphic design, mostly in the Buffalo area. She is a graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts.
Her accolades include winning two Silver Design Awards from the Art Directors Club of Buffalo, The Pinnacle Award from American City Business Journals and Best Advertising Campaign from the National Association of Legal Marketing Executives. Her work has been featured in Seth Godin’s Guerrilla Marketing Handbook and Fresh Ideas in Promotion by North Light Books.
In 2003, she was a Business First of Buffalo Forty Under 40 honoree for her achievements in her professional career as well as her contributions to her community.
In 2010, Jennifer retired from the corporate world to become a caregiver to her parents. Since then, she has discovered the joy of creating works of art and sharing them with the world.
Primarily utilizing acrylic paints and her vast collection of vintage ephemera, Jennifer enjoys exploring textural surfaces and combining media that invites the viewer to enjoy her work from a distance as well as the details close-up through her many layers.
Recently she was honored both locally and nationally for her paintings, and regularly exhibits her work when the opportunities arise. Jennifer is honored to be an exhibiting member of the Buffalo Society of Artists. She also serves on the boards for the Western New York Artists Group as well as the Interior Design Association of WNY.
When she’s not painting, Jennifer enjoys spending time in her garden, with her husband, her family, and friends.
