About
Laura Valkwitch

I am a multidisciplinary artist and instructor residing and working near Buffalo, New York. My primary mediums of expression are oil painting and woodburning.

Currently, I am deeply inspired by the breathtaking majesty of the lake effect clouds in Western New York. Through my ongoing series of cloud paintings, I aim to capture the stunning diversity and spontaneous grace of these ethereal formations. Overall, my art is a celebration of the immense beauty that surrounds us, and my work is fueled by a lifelong fascination with the transcendent qualities of the natural world.

As a creative, I find tremendous joy in sharing my ideas and creations with others. Whether it's through teaching, painting or other forms of art, there's something incredibly fulfilling about knowing that my work can have a positive impact on others. You can find my classes at Buffalo Art Studio in Buffalo, New York, and Carnegie Art Center in North Tonawanda.

Recently, I was fortunate to participate in an artist residency at C. Stuart and Jane H. Hunt Gallery in Buffalo, New York, where I had the chance to learn from established members of the Buffalo Society of Artists and share my art with the local community. It was an amazing experience and I feel privileged to be part of both the vibrant Buffalo art scene and the esteemed Buffalo Society of Artists.

Education

I pursued Fine Art at Niagara County Community College but put my education on hold to raise my family. Despite the absence of formal training, I persisted in exploring various mediums and techniques through self-directed experimentation. My love for artistic expression has remained unwavering, fueling my relentless pursuit of creativity.
