About
Norma Joy

My interest in art began as a child. I used to stand behind my Grandfather as he worked at his easel with a gooseneck lamp shining on his canvas and his hands full of brushes. The smell of oil paint will still take me back to those moments when I watched mesmerized as he worked.

For me, my art has served as a reflection of my interactions with life and the world. My focus has been human relationships and the processes and forces that shape the quality of these. Using color in an intuitive way, I allow the images to reveal themselves, expressing the layered quality of time and space. Although personal experiences feed my work, I believe that these moments can carry an archetypal quality, perhaps resonating with the viewer.
