Steve Siegel

Steve Siegel is a professional photographer who resides in Buffalo N.Y. He work has won numerous awards locally, nationally and internationally. Locally, his images have appeared at many galleries including the Burchfield Penney Art Center, Castellani Art Museum, Kenan House Gallery, He has had solo shows at TGW@497 Gallery, Carnegie Art Center, Pausa Art House, Queen City Gallery and Betty’s and The Phoenix at 269. He is a 4 time nominee for the annual International Black and White Spider Awards in the category of Architecture. The award’s international Jury included captains of the industry from The Royal Photographic Society, FoMu Fotomuseum, Aeroplastics Contemporary, Torch Gallery, Stockholm City Museum and Fratelli Alinari in Florence. Mr. Siegel was also a recipient of an International Monochrome Award in the category of Professional Architecture. Winning images were selected by a panel of international judges, including: Ted Preuss, David Fokos, and Roman Loranc, among others. His work has appeared in numerous magazines including Black&White Photography Magazine where he is a 2 time Merit Award winner in their annual portfolio competition. Approximately 1100 portfolios and 10,000 pictures were submitted by photographers from all over the world with 90 winning portfolios appearing in both special issues #92 and # 98. He was one of only 8 photographers out of 1900 total portfolios submitted worldwide to B&W, whose work appeared in consecutive portfolio issues. Photographs by Mr. Siegel have also been selected for international juried exhibitions including 3 consecutive shows at the North Valley Art League’s International Juried Art Show in Redding, Ca. where a total of 4 of his images were exhibited. Along with artist Richard Christian, Mr. Siegel recently published a book, Creative Spaces – The Western New York Artist Studio Project, where he photographed the studios of 15 Western New York artists and contributed editorial content. One of his images was requested and used as the cover of a book published internationally by Routledge entitled Learning to Save the Future – Rethinking Education and Work in an Era of Digital Capitalism by Dr. Alex Means. Mr. Siegel previously served on the Board of Directors of the Contemporary Photography and Visual Arts Center (CEPA Gallery). He is a member of the Buffalo Society of Artists where he served on the Executive Committee as Treasurer and has served on the jury for the evaluation of new member applicants.
