Carol Townsend’s invitational two-person exhibition entitled “From the Diaries” closed September 6th at the Liptov Gallery of the Peter Michal Bohun Museum of Art, Liptovsky Mikulas, Slovakia. This exhibition space dates back to the 1450’s. Featured were works by Julia Sabova, head of the Departments of Textile and Fashion Design at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, and by Carol who was the chair of the Design Department at Buffalo State at the time of the invitation. Carol presented nearly thirty collages and ceramic works. She was also asked to read several of her poems which were then translated and read in the Slovack language. Wolfe’s ‘Dimensional Transitions,’ an exhibition exploring the dichotomies reflected in art and life experiences will be on view at the Carnegie Art Center from Thursday, September 17 to October 31, 2009. The opening reception is Thursday, September 17 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Gary L. Wolfe’s work addresses the fundamental vulnerability of the contemporary human condition, often combining his skill as a painter with other media (collage, assemblage, fine woodworking, stained glass and video) to create, multi-dimensional objects that transition between actual and perceived presence of the work’s subject and objects.
