About
Betty Pitts-Foster

ARTIST BIO Betty Pitts-Foster is a graduate of the University of Buffalo with a BFA and a Masters of Education degree. Her professional career included teaching and working as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor; jobs which developed patience and discipline. She experienced many different pathways but her heart has always stayed true to the gift within and at this time in her latter days she is fulfilling her desire to express the triumphs of the joy of living, and celebrating what God has created. Her paintings vibrate with light, the energy of movement, and color, taking the viewer into the world of people going about their everyday life, the inner response of joy you feel on a warm summer’s day or the excitement of dancing. Her work is an inner response to what God created using vibrant colors and strong contrasts with abstract shapes, combining them in realistic visions of the natural. She credits her strong faith in God, her husband (deceased) who encouraged her and Buffalo Arts Studio for her present level of exposure as an artist. Her past awards include prizes from the Chautauqua Art Association's 13th National Jury Show, Buffalo Arts Society, and the Williamsville Art Society. She was also selected by Ernest Chrichlow and Romare Bearden to be a part of an art exhibition,at the Gallery Museum, Hall of Springs at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. Her work was selected by the US Department of State for the Art in Embassies Program. Her work has been exhibited at Art Dialogue Gallery, Albright Art Gallery, Buffalo Arts Studio group shows for Buffalo Society of Artists, williamville Art Society and various venues. Since re-entering the art arena she has begun to do portraits, in addition to her earlier religious theme paintings and abstract realism work. Her work is expressed in a variety of mediums (charcoal, pastels and oil paints)and can be viewed at The Buffalo Arts Studio, 2495 Main Street Buffalo NY 14214, 833-4450
